5 fringe Carolina Panthers players who need to show out at Colts

Omar Bayless – Carolina Panthers WR
Being a training camp star is one thing.
Getting it done when it matters most is a completely different ball game.
This is the task facing Omar Bayless over the next few weeks, starting at the Indianapolis Colts. The wide receiver has made a lasting impression over the last two summers, but the undrafted free agent has yet to see the field after a knee injury sidelined him for the entire 2020 campaign.
For Bayless, the wait is almost over.
Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium will be the start of what the Arkansas State product hopes will lead to a roster spot. Something he was cruelly denied last time around.
Although it’s unlikely Bayless sees any reps with the starting unit, there will be an opportunity in the second half to generate some targets providing he shows the same smoothness creating separation the player has demonstrated at camp.
There is a tremendous amount of excitement within Carolina’s fanbase to finally see Bayless on the gridiron. It’s been a long time coming, but there won’t be much margin for error with positions at a premium within a crowded wide receiver room.
Bayless has the skills and plenty of momentum. Now is the time to put it all together in a game-day environment.
