Will Grier – Carolina Panthers QB

This is going to be one of the main players to watch during the preseason. Will Grier is entering the last chance saloon regarding his long-term future with the Carolina Panthers in only his third season, so it’s imperative the quarterback catches the eye in warmup games.

Grier hasn’t seen the field since starting two games as a rookie in 2019. Something that didn’t exactly go to plan and it was clear the former third-round pick was not ready for such a responsibility right out of the gate.

Carolina’s new coaching staff used P.J. Walker in the primary backup role more often than not in 2020. Another blow to the West Virginia product’s chances of forging a successful career at the next level.

Credit to the signal-caller for working incredibly hard on his game this offseason. But whether this can transition to improved production under center is still undecided.

Matt Rhule is keen to see both Grier and Walker plenty in the next few weeks. Sam Darnold will start the first two games, but the duo behind him on the depth chart should see more time overall.

There is a lot at stake for Grier, who was a strange draft pick by Carolina’s decision-makers at the time. Changing perceptions is going to be a challenge, but this is the only place it’s going to happen.
