Josh Bynes – Carolina Panthers LB

Time is of the essence for the newest member of the Carolina Panthers. Linebacker Josh Bynes was an intriguing pickup by the organization on Wednesday, which improves depth within a positional group that is dealing with injuries to both Denzel Perryman and Clay Johnston ahead of their first preseason fixture.

Bynes boasts far more experience than other additions picked up by the Panthers of late. He is a Super Bowl champion from his days with the Baltimore Ravens and started every game for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020 without doing enough to earn an extended stay.

One area where Bynes has always stood out is defending the run. Something that Carolina struggled with at times last season.

This signing could indicate that Perryman might take some time coming back from his particular problem. So it’s a real opportunity for Bynes to get his foot back in the door.

The former Auburn star is set for a baptism of fire in scrimmages against the Indianapolis Colts. Baynes has to stand out from the word go and if this also comes with some solid reps as part of the second unit, then there is every chance he can push for a surprise roster position heading into Week 1.
