5 bold predictions for the Panthers at Colts in preseason Week 1

P.J. Walker separates himself as Carolina Panthers QB2
P.J. Walker is listed on the unofficial depth chart as QB2 along with Will Grier. But it has been the former XFL MVP candidate that has flashed during the early parts of training camp with several deep ball throws and increased accuracy in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.
Remember, Grier was drafted by the previous regime and there are no ties to this coaching staff.
Walker was previously the starting signal-caller at Temple when Rhule was the head coach. Something that further tips the scales in his favor if the evidence from his first season with the Carolina Panthers is any indication.
The quarterback was signed by this staff and was the player they chose to start against the Detroit Lions in 2020 when Teddy Bridgewater was injured.
That ended in a 20-0 victory, obviously thanks to a sterling display on defense and Walker producing some memorable highlights under center. Grier did not receive any starts last season and hasn’t seen the field since his rookie campaign in 2019.
Walker should receive the second team reps after Sam Darnold receives his series or two. Look for him to continue his strong performance from training camp and translating that to live game action.
