Carolina Panthers defense forces 3 turnovers and concedes less than 14

Much has been talked about publicly that Carson Wentz will be out all of the preseason and likely not back until Week 1. A blow for the Indianapolis Colts and their chances of hitting the ground running en route to a potential playoff berth.

Enter Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger.

The two young hopefuls have both been splitting reps as QB1 in Wentz’s absence. There are no career starts for either signal-caller and Ehlinger is a rookie who was taken in the sixth round out of Texas,

The Carolina Panthers made several additions on defense in the offseason for both starting and depth help. And it appears as if though Eason will be getting the start and coming up against Phil Snow’s first unit on Sunday.

A formidable defensive line led by Haason Reddick, Brian Burns, and Derrick Brown has been making the Panthers’ quarterbacks in training camp feel uncomfortable. They are obviously chomping at the bit to get their hands on a quarterback absent the red no-contact jersey.

Couple that with the added depth and increased aggressiveness the secondary has showcased, the Panthers should have several opportunities on Sunday for strip-sacks and interceptions.
