5 major Sam Darnold observations from Week 3 of Panthers training camp

Sam Darnold bounces back on Day 2 of joint practice
It was a rough outing on the whole during the first day of joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts. Head coach Matt Rhule was clearly displeased with the standard set by the Carolina Panthers – including Sam Darnold – so he expected a response on Day 2.
Objective achieved.
The Panthers were right at it from the word go on Friday. Things threatened to spill over on occasions with multiple skirmishes breaking out, but this showed that Carolina won’t be rolling over for anybody this season.
Not only this, but Darnold also raised the stakes under center with a polished performance against a top defensive unit. The wide receivers had a better day in terms of creating separation, which was all the quarterback needed to get back on track.
This might not be the vocal group of days gone by with Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly, and Cam Newton no longer around. But the Panthers are all pulling in the same direction and willing to go that extra mile in terms of protecting each other when it comes to the crunch.
According to the media in attendance, Darnold remained unflustered amid the chaos. Displaying the right sort of temperament that’s needed to get the most out of the session as possible.
It’s just a small thing. But another real positive that could make all the difference.
