5 Carolina Panthers players who could be among first cuts in 2021
By Dean Jones
Micah Simon – Carolina Panthers WR
It didn’t take long for the Carolina Panthers to snap up Micah Simon following a spellbinding pro day at BYU. But the wide receiver remains well down the depth chart and others have clearly outperformed the young player during training camp so far.
Simon now faces a nervous wait to see if he’ll get a reprieve for at least another week. And the Panthers obviously liked what they saw from the player initially, with his blazing speed and ability to stretch the field something that really caught the eye working with Zach Wilson during the evaluation process.
That being said, this is arguably the deepest positional group in Carolina and the likes of Omar Bayless and even C.J. Saunders are making a far bigger splash than Simon at this juncture.
Perhaps it will come down to Simon and Krishawn Hogan for a potential early cut. Something that might work to the player’s advantage considering his teammate hasn’t been around the organization for very long.
Simon always faced a tough task to make the roster or even the practice squad. This has only been made more difficult by others around him on the Panthers roster making their presence felt during drills and on the field at the Indianapolis Colts.
