J.C. Jackson – New England Patriots

If the Carolina Panthers decided that Donte Jackson is not worth what he’s probably going to be looking for during contract negotiations, then it could see the organization take a look at the free-agent market to potentially acquire someone a little cheaper with upside.

Should the Panthers go down this route, it might be worth checking in on J.C. Jackson.

The cornerback has risen from an undrafted free agent to a productive starter for the New England Patriots, emerging as one of their top defensive performers despite a severe lack of talent around him.

Jackson gave up 41 receptions from 75 balls thrown his way in 2020. The Maryland product also snagged nine interceptions, taking his career total to 17 in just three seasons.

It’s clear Jackson is a player heading in the right direction. Carolina might also seek counsel from D.J. Moore ahead of this move, with the pair coming up against each other plenty during their time on the Terrapins.

The player signed a one-year, $3.38 million extension this offseason. How Jackson performs with some familiar faces returning to the Patriots after opting out last season could add some serious dollars to his demands.

Opposing quarterbacks have had no trouble targeting Jackson since entering the league. Something a lot of them probably regret.
