Tommy Tremble vs. Patrick Queen

This might not come into many people’s minds. But the battle between Tommy Tremble and linebacker Patrick Queen might be something to monitor in 11-on-11 drills.

The third-round pick out of Notre Dame is seen as a work in progress catching the football. Even though Tremble has produced some nice moments throughout training camp so far.

However, the Carolina Panthers are planning to utilize Tremble in a way that’s already NFL-ready while he gets this area of his game up to the required standard.

Simply put, Tremble is a violent and ruthless blocker that should occupy the H-back role for the Panthers. His strength and athleticism creating holes is something that could benefit Christian McCaffrey an untold amount, so Queen needs to be wary of where the rookie is lining up at all times.

The national championship-winner at LSU didn’t generate many headlines in Year 1 of his pro career. But Queen had a really encouraging campaign overall and definitely belongs at the next level.

This will be another stern test for Tremble, who’ll need to continue progressing rapidly with a view to potentially becoming the complete tight end down the line.
