Chuba Hubbard – Carolina Panthers RB

There was an element of surprise to see Chuba Hubbard at No. 3 on the unofficial depth chart released by the Carolina Panthers last week. Although this has little input from those in positions of power within the organization.

It’s been a steady if not superb start to training camp for Hubbard. Not unexpected of a fourth-round pick who is looking to take a substantial leap from Oklahoma State to the NFL.

Considering how well Reggie Bonnafon and Rodney Smith have been performing throughout camp, the onus was on Hubbard to also raise his game to a level that installs a little more confidence surrounding the player and his chances of becoming Christian McCaffrey’s primary backup in 2020.

It was a case of challenge accepted for Hubbard, who steadily progressed over the last week and produced some memorable plays along the way.

Getting some preseason reps at the Indianapolis Colts seems to have done wonders for Hubbard’s confidence. As did taking part in joint practices where his rise to prominence officially began to a certain extent.

Sterner tests are ahead for Hubbard. But the rookie running back is off to a positive start.
