Which position battles could be decided during the Carolina Panthers’ second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday?

Although Matt Rhule has yet to determine just how many of the first-team unit will see the field for the Carolina Panthers in preseason Week 2, there is still plenty at stake for players up and down the depth chart.

The Baltimore Ravens are sure to provide a stern test of the team’s credentials, with the AFC championship hopefuls looking stacked in almost every positional group heading into the 2021 campaign.

There was some good and plenty of indifferent performances at the Indianapolis Colts last weekend. Something that was expected considering it was the first time this team had been on the field together during the preparation period in a game-day environment.

With the starters set to play more during the preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which Panthers position battles could get settled on Sunday?

This still remains a battle between the wily veteran and the young rookie looking to make his way. J.J. Jansen and Thomas Fletcher still appear neck-and-neck heading into Week 2 of the preseason, so who comes out with the better performance against the Ravens might just have the edge.

Realistically speaking, the Panthers could have made their mind up already. After all, they didn’t spend a sixth-round pick on Fletcher for nothing.

However, Jansen is the team’s longest-serving player for a reason. He is supremely consistent and has barely put a foot wrong over the last 12 years, so you can bet your bottom dollar he won’t be going down without a fight.
