Deonte Brown – Carolina Panthers OG

General manager Scott Fitterer stated following the 2021 NFL Draft that the Carolina Panthers drafted Deonte Brown with the bigger picture in mind.

The formidable interior offensive lineman had his way with almost every opponent – including Derrick Brown – during his time in college. If this makes a transition to the next level over time, the Panthers are going to have a real player on their hands.

There are some concerns regarding Brown despite an exceptional career at Alabama that ended with a resounding national championship triumph. His character was called into question during the evaluation process – perhaps unfairly – and the player’s weight is also something that put a lot of teams off.

Carolina got the chance to work with Brown at the 2021 Senior Bowl, where he struggled overall. However, they thought he was a risk worth taking in the sixth round.

Providing he’s working hard to progress some outstanding physical attributes, it could be a real steal when it’s all said and done.

What comes next is ultimately down to Brown. If he wants it enough, there is a real opportunity for the guard to lock down a starting position in 2022 and even see some reps as a rookie later in the upcoming campaign.
