Carolina Panthers defense will force three turnovers

Seeing the first-team defensive unit on the field together in a game-day situation will tell us much more about what we can expect from their group in 2021. The Carolina Panthers have high hopes for Phil Snow’s options this time around after some eye-catching recruitment this offseason, with their overall production throughout training camp only whetting the appetite further.

The Panthers were in a ruthless mood on Thursday, claiming five interceptions and dominating an under-strength Baltimore Ravens offense throughout the session. Something that might just continue on Sunday.

It’s hard to envisage a situation where the defense fails to deliver in the coming months. One can make a case things on the offensive side of the ball won’t be up to the required standard, but Snow has dynamic talent and some quality depth across the board for the first time since taking the job.

Carolina needs their defensive playmakers to set the tone. This should keep them in games if the offense takes time to put it all together.

Going up against Lamar Jackson isn’t the easiest of propositions. The former NFL MVP is looking to get a bumper new contract a the earliest possible opportunity, so if the Panthers can limit his production and create turnovers, the better their chances will be.
