5 Panthers players to watch closely in preseason game vs. Ravens

Chuba Hubbard – Carolina Panthers RB
In the initial Carolina Panthers depth chart, Chuba Hubbard was named RB3. After his showing on debut, it’s hard to imagine that’s now the case.
Hubbard was a beast in 2019 at Oklahoma State, finishing the season with over 2,000 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.
The following season Hubbard only played in seven games for the Cowboys before opting out for the rest of the season. He had well-publicized issues with head coach Mike Gundy after he was pictured wearing a shirt of the One America News Network. Even going as far as to say he wouldn’t play for the coach again.
Hubbard balled out in his NFL debut. His seven carries producing 80 yards.
One run stood out massively, facing a third and one the ball was handed to Hubbard and the Colts defensive line got a good push cutting all lanes down the middle.
The Colts announcer even went as far as to say “big play I think we stopped him”, then Hubbard showed great composure to stay on his feet and bounce it to the outside for a 59-yard run.
Although Christian McCaffrey is clearly the Panthers RB1, another solid performance on his home debut will see Hubbard cement his place as his primary backup heading into the season.
