3 winners and 3 losers from Carolina Panthers second preseason game

Will Grier – Carolina Panthers QB
Last week, it was backup quarterback P.J. Walker that was named a winner. This time around, Will Grier proved why he should be the No. 2 with a strong showing in the first half of the game.
Grier looked the most confident he’s been since being drafted by Carolina in 2019.
After having to play with third and fourth stringers in the second half of the team’s first preseason game at the Indianapolis Colts, Grier entered the game early in the first quarter after Sam Darnold was pulled and he instantly connected with the offense, including an impressive 34-yard throw to rookie receiver Terrace Marshall Jr.
Still lacking many of the Carolina Panthers’ starters, Grier went 11-13 for 144 yards with a 112.8 quarterback rating in the first half. He threw one pass to start the second period before getting banged up on a play, ending his day.
It doesn’t seem likely that Carolina keeps three quarterbacks on the roster again, so Grier’s performance at least gave the team some hope that they can try and trade him for a late draft pick if they want to hold onto Walker.
The showing was much-needed for Grier and he did exactly what was asked of him even though the offense was unable to get into the end zone.
