3 winners and 3 losers from Carolina Panthers second preseason game
By Jason Huber
Frankie Luvu – Carolina Panthers OLB
Linebacker Frankie Luvu has been one of the most impressive players on the field in the first two preseason games and for the second straight week, he is a winner on this list.
Against the Baltimore Ravens, Luvu was even better than his solid performance against the Indianapolis Colts. He was all over the field, racking up three tackles, a forced fumble, one quarterback hit, and a pass breakup.
If there were any questions, Luvu has unquestionably earned a spot on the Carolina Panthers’ 53-man roster with his performance these past two contests. Something the energetic defender deserves an enormous amount of credit for.
With Shaq Thompson, Jermaine Carter, and Haason Reddick holding down the three starting linebacker spots, Luvu could create a scary linebacker rotation when one of the three needs rest. Considering the depth concerns at the second level, his rise to prominence during training camp and warmup games has been especially welcome.
The big get from the New York Jets this offseason was Darnold, but Luvu has been a huge surprise and something that could really help the Panthers when competitive action begins.
