3 winners and 3 losers from Carolina Panthers second preseason game
By Jason Huber
Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR
Besides Will Grier, rookie wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. might have been the only bright spot on Saturday night from an offensive standpoint.
Marshall, who only played in the first quarter, caught three passes on three targets for 88 receiving yards, including a long of 34 yards.
The pass was a great one by Grier but Marshall impressively hauled it in. Something that only heightened expectations surrounding the second-round pick heading into his first season in a professional environment.
On a night in which The Athletic reported the Carolina Panthers were close to an extension with wide receiver Robby Anderson, Marshall showed more promise that he could be the future at wide receiver in addition to D.J. Moore.
It seems that Marshall is just beginning to be unleashed. The Panthers got a diamond when the LSU product fell all the way to No. 59 overall, which is going to make some decision-makers across the league kick themselves for passing on the player judging by his initial contributions on the field.
Things couldn’t have gone much better for Marshall over the first two preseason games. But it’ll be interesting to see how Carolina uses him when all the starters are expected to play as much as one half against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Friday.
