Krishawn Hogan – Carolina Panthers WR

Things are starting to take shape in the wide receiver room after two preseason games. The Carolina Panthers have their top-five options virtually locked in judging by recent production, which makes it extremely difficult for those on the fringes to make their presence felt.

It was evident that the third-string once again struggled to impress against the Baltimore Ravens. Their inability to get open consistently hindered the team and quarterback P.J. Walker’s progress, so trimming the fat in this area of the field is almost guaranteed.

Just who that’s going to be is another matter entirely.

But it’s hard to look at Krishawn Hogan’s influence with any real confidence.

Hogan was a late arrival in free agency and brought in his only target for an eight-yard gain on Saturday. His size and catch radius made him an intriguing option to take a look at, even though it probably won’t amount to a roster spot when it’s all said and done.

If the Panthers take six wideouts onto the roster, it leaves just one spot available for the likes of Hogan, Keith Kirkwood, Omar Bayless, and Brandon Zylstra to attain.

The odds are clearly stacked against Hogan at this stage. So maybe the best thing for Carolina is to waive him and focus on more realistic roster alternatives over the next week.
