Carolina Panthers and Robby Anderson have options

This is great news for the Carolina Panthers. But it would be a huge surprise if those in power didn’t leave themselves a couple of options later in the deal regarding a release or potential trade.

That’s just the way things are in today’s NFL. Something the Panthers and the previous regime perhaps should have done regarding Teddy Bridgewater, Matt Kalil, and other highly-paid stars who didn’t live up to their billing.

Anderson has plenty left in the tank after coming into his own once he freed himself from MetLife Stadium. If things don’t work out, at least the Panthers didn’t give him anything more than a two-year extension rather than a longer-term deal.

It’s also worth remembering that Anderson will be just 30 years old at the end of this deal. Meaning there could be one more substantial contract to come providing the numbers are still at a high level when it’s time to head to the negotiating table yet again.

There’s a lot of football to be played between now and then. However, both Anderson and the Panthers come out of this looking really well.
