What are some big questions facing the Carolina Panthers defensive line during a crucial 2021 season for the organization?

There are growing hopes regarding the Carolina Panthers’ defense this season. The first-team unit looks like one of real force and there should be enough in the way of depth behind the projected starters to ensure no real momentum is lost when the injury big inevitably strikes.

This bears more significance on the defensive front. Some impressive reinforcements were acquired by the Panthers during free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft, giving Phil Snow an embarrassment of riches to call upon in a crucial second season calling plays for the coordinator.

Stopping the run and generating pressure were two problems that gradually improved as the 2020 season went on. If further strides are made by the time Week 1 against the New York Jets rolls around, there is nothing to suggest this unit cannot become one of the NFL’s best when it’s all said and done.

With this in mind, here are five burning questions surrounding Carolina’s defensive line in 2021.

What can Morgan Fox offer the Carolina Panthers?

Although initially projected as a rotational defensive piece when signing in free agency, Morgan Fox appears likely to fill a starting role opposite Brian Burns to open the campaign. This is a huge opportunity for the player after catching the eye for the Los Angeles Rams last time out, but whether he has enough in the bag to capitalize on it is another matter entirely,

Fox has a lot of likable traits. His motor is first-class and the player also displays an impressive ability to set the edge against the run.

While Fox isn’t the most explosive player around, he could be a valuable asset and strong leadership presence with more responsibility on his shoulders.
