Which Carolina Panthers players have lots on the line during their preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday evening?

The Carolina Panthers are slowly winding down an intense preparation period in readiness for the 2021 season. Their return to Charlotte following training camp at Wofford Collee gave the players a better indication of what things will be like on a usual gameday week, something that should stand them in good stead ahead of the team’s preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Bank of America Stadium.

Although most positions from a starting perspective are now sewn up, the Panthers still have some big decisions to make regarding depth chart status and just who is going to make it onto their 53-man roster next week.

This is the final chance many have to impress. But the veteran players who’ve been kept out of the first two warmup games also need to make their presence felt in pursuit of alleviating some concerns when competitive action begins.

With this in mind, here are five Panthers players with plenty at stake during their preseason Week 4 contest at Bank of America Stadium.

Joey Slye – Carolina Panthers K

Let’s not sugarcoat this, Joey Slye is probably on his final chance to prove beyond all doubt he can be relied upon moving forward. It hasn’t been the best of preseasons for the kicker and the Panthers now have someone who could potentially replace the Virginia Tech product if he doesn’t turn things around quickly.

Carolina signed Dominik Eberle on Tuesday following practice, so there will at least be a stiff competition between the two over the next few days before those in power decide who makes the 53.

Slye remains the frontrunner. But it’s not by much and if he fluffs his lines against the Steelers, it’s going to come with grave consequences.
