5 bold predictions for the Panthers preseason finale vs. Steelers

Brian Burns gains two sacks for the Carolina Panthers
There is a real opportunity for the Carolina Panthers to cause some real havoc on the defensive side of things. With the Pittsburgh Steelers resting a lot of their primary playmakers, it would be disappointing if Phil Snow’s unit weren’t able to make some significant noise in their final tune-up before Week 1.
Brian Burns is now the focal point of Carolina’s defense after emerging as a potential star in 2020. The former first-round pick certainly made his presence felt during his limited time on the field against the Baltimore Ravens, which only heightened expectations surrounding a true breakout campaign this time around.
Considering the level of talent around Burns on the defensive front, it’s hard to envisage a scenario where he doesn’t have his own way with whomever he comes up against in the coming months.
The Florida State product can be a difference-maker on Friday night. Especially if the Steelers don’t put out their new-look offensive line that lost some core veteran pieces during the offseason.
Burns has all the explosiveness needed to thrive. Finishing off plays more efficiently is his next route to greatness, so a multiple sack outing in Carolina’s last warmup game is a good place to start.
Much will depend on how long Burns is on the field. If it’s a whole half, then this is more than attainable.
