3 winners and 3 losers from Carolina Panthers final preseason game

Joey Slye – Carolina Panthers K
Unfortunately, it seems like Joey Slye’s tenure with the Carolina Panthers will come to an end before Tuesday after another tough preseason game wrapped up a brutal preparation period for the kicker.
In a game in which he had to perform well with new kicker Ryan Santoso competing against him, Slye fell short.
The Virginia Tech product missed wide on a 39-yard field goal in the first half. Slye didn’t see much time after that as Santoso got most of the kicking opportunities.
Slye hit an extra point late in the game but with all the struggles he’s had recently, the writing was on the wall that this was likely his final game in a Carolina uniform.
While Steve Smith Sr. was making great commentary in the TV booth about Slye needing to pack his bags, it was tough to watch the kicker alone on the sideline knowing he’ll likely be cut in the following days.
It lasted two years for Slye, but another new era of kicking is set to begin for the Panthers. Whether the player gets another opportunity to prove his worth elsewhere in the league remains to be seen.
