Sean Chandler – Carolina Panthers S

It’s going to be extremely difficult for the Carolina Panthers to leave Sean Chandler off the roster. The free-agent signing has made his presence felt and developed into a turnover machine in the preseason, which continued with a polished performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday.

Chandler seems to be benefitting from a familiar system having worked with Carolina’s coaching staff at Temple. He’s adjusted to a new set-up well and will count himself hard done by if his name isn’t on the 53-man roster in the coming days.

The Panthers have a difficult situation developing when it comes to who is going to back up the top three safeties on their depth chart. Jeremy Chinn and Juston Burris are locked to start, with Sam Franklin waiting in the wings if the former Cleveland Brown struggles early on.

Chandler is in the next group looking for a place. Myles Hartsfield and Kenny Robinson also fancy their chances, but someone is probably going to miss out as Carolina won’t take six safeties onto the team.

Again, Chandler might be a candidate for the practice squad if the coaching staff opts to go with others. However, his production since joining the organization probably dictates a place on the roster.
