The strides made by Kenny Robinson this offseason were a pleasant surprise. Things looked bleak for the safety early in his rookie campaign, but he’s staked a strong claim for a roster spot over both training camp and the time spent on the field during the preseason.

Robinson wasn’t able to take part against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to injury. But there is enough solid production behind him to ensure a debate needs to be had before deciding his fate in the coming days.

It remains to be seen whether the Carolina Panthers keep Robinson around. Much will depend on just how many spots will be allocated to safeties within their depth chart.

Even if Robinson makes the team, he shouldn’t take anything for granted.

The former XFL star would be a primary candidate to be cut if a better option finds its way onto the waiver wire. Something the Panthers would undoubtedly consider to further bolster depth at the position behind projected starting duo Jeremy Chinn and Juston Burris.

Only time will tell as to what the future holds for Robinson. Whichever way it goes, the player can relax safe in the knowledge he couldn’t have done anymore since the offseason program began.
