Could the Carolina Panthers make yet another trade to boost their 2021 chances before Week 1?

The Carolina Panthers preseason is in the books and now attention shifts to cuts and who may be available in the coming days. Arguably the biggest priority has to be improving a well-coached but underwhelming defense – which brought about another move when they acquired defensive lineman Darryl Johnson from the Buffalo Bills.

If the right pieces are made available, the Panthers certainly should be expected to make moves this week. The team might be an interesting fringe wildcard contender who is going to take a step forward this year providing the right decisions are made between now and Week 1.

However, if this team were to be aggressive regarding recruitment – which they’ve been so far – it certainly could change the outlook on their season.

Carolina Panthers won’t be afraid to make more moves if needed.

One move Carolina should be considering offensively is shoring up the backup quarterback position after a preseason of inconsistency from Will Grier and P.J. Walker.

Adding a veteran receiver could be an option as well depending on the extent of Shi Smith’s injury. This isn’t out of the question with Carolina’s current cap space.

Regardless of whether they choose to make another trade, here are five players Carolina should at least check in on before competitive action begins.
