Jaylon Smith – LB

Jaylon Smith has fallen out of favor with the Dallas Cowboys after a very rough season for the linebacker in 2020.

Smith didn’t play well last season and is going to be replaced by rookie Micah Parsons. The former Penn State sensation certainly flashed in the preseason and appears destined to be one of the better defenders in Dallas.

However, giving up on Smith is a bit premature.

The Cowboys’ defense had solid pieces last season. As much as the team struggled, they still had building blocks defensively and Smith is one of those players.

A player the Carolina Panthers would be very lucky to have.

Ever since Luke Kuechly surprised Panther fans with his retirement, Carolina has lacked a stalwart at linebacker.

Smith would be just that in a superior defense. Although the Panthers are keen to see what Jermaine Carter can do after naming him MLB1 heading into the new campaign.

It seems Dallas would be willing to part ways with Smith for a late-round pick when you look at his $7.2 million cap hit and the fact he is likely to be benched. It is also doubtful the Cowboys would demand a high price.

Smith would be a great fit with the Panthers and a player Carolina should already be checking in on to bolster their depth if nothing else.
