Given the fact the Carolina Panthers just acquired Sam Darnold as their quarterback of the future, there certainly has been an immense amount of offseason noise.

Whether it was rumored the team could be targeting a signal-caller in the draft or their continued interest in Deshaun Watson, the Panthers seem to be approaching this season refusing to believe fully in their acquisition from the New York Jets.

This is concerning for a team who just swung big to acquire a talented Darnold. A player that’s spent his young career so far taking beatings from both opposing defenses and the New York press.

If you’re Carolina, you owe it to Darnold to give him the season, give him everything he could need to prove he is your franchise quarterback.

Zach Ertz would fit the bill perfectly. A veteran tight end who the Philadelphia Eagles seem to want to move on from.

If healthy, Ertz is a perfect fit and seemingly the only piece this Carolina offense is missing.

While he isn’t the beloved Greg Olsen, someone like Ertz certainly could replace the production he brought during his time in Carolina. Even though the coaching staff appears high on free-agent signing Dan Arnold heading into the season.

Ertz in Carolina is a fun storyline. One giving Darnold an even better chance to prove what the franchise is seemingly already doubting.
