Stephon Gilmore – CB

Stephon Gilmore and the New England Patriots seem to be at a bit of an impasse and it wouldn’t be shocking to see the cornerback moved before Week 1 kicks off.

New England has long lived under the mantra “better a year too early than a year too late”. They aren’t afraid to move or even cut players they believe are headed in the wrong direction.

While this has at times backfired – Tom Brady being the latest example – more than not it has been a winning formula for a team that certainly is never going to put its players first with an iron fist business approach.

The Carolina Panthers have depth at the corner position. But when one of the few shutdown corners left in the game is on the market you check in to see what the asking price could potentially be.

Gilmore in Carolina is a very unlikely scenario.

However, the Panthers owe it to themselves and their fans to see what the Patriots would demand in exchange for the star corner. A love that would make their secondary among the league’s best instantly.

Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson currently sit atop the Panthers’ depth chart.  Solid starters for a young defense who certainly improves by adding Gilmore.
