Which players recently released across the league could be targeted by the Carolina Panthers from their waiver wire to boost their 53-man roster?

The Carolina Panthers made some tough decisions on Tuesday en route to choosing their initial 53-man roster. However, don’t be surprised if there are plenty more twists and turns to come before everything is finalized.

General manager Scott Fitterer has made his presence felt since arriving from the Seattle Seahawks. He’s made four trades in the last two weeks and is constantly churning out the roster to hopefully come up with the right recipe for success in 2021.

There is absolutely no doubt there will be additional changes. Plenty of talented players fell foul of cuts across the league, so this might be an opportunity for Carolina to potentially strengthen problem positional groups before Week 1 against the New York Jets.

With this in mind, here are five potential waiver-wire targets for the Panthers to consider after the final roster cuts.

Although Ryan Santoso quickly beat out Joey Slye for the projected starting job, the Carolina Panthers stated it was still a fluid situation in terms of finding a potential long-term kicking option.

Jake Verity being waived by the Baltimore Ravens should make them sit up and take notice.

Verity’s enjoyed a fine preseason. But the simple fact of the matter is he was never going to surpass Justin Tucker on the depth chart – who still remains one of the best in the business.

There is expected to be a ton of interest in Verity. So the Panthers might not get the player even if they do put a waiver claim in.
