6 college prospects the Carolina Panthers should watch closely in 2021
By Nick Halden
Carson Strong – QB (Nevada)
Carson Strong is the most interesting quarterback prospect in this draft with the biggest boom or bust potential.
Drafting Strong behind Sam Darnold would be a great move for the Carolina Panthers. Providing that the current option shows promise in his first year with the organization after his high-profile trade from the New York Jets.
Regardless of the season Darnold has, it is a quarterback-driven league. Developing Strong behind Darnold would be a great move for the Panthers.
Selecting a signal-caller is only a bad idea if you have a top-five quarterback like Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. Otherwise, having a backup plan better than Carolina’s current option P.J. Walker would also be beneficial.
Strong’s impressive arm talent and ability to read the defense will give make the Nevada prospect a late first-round pick.
The Panthers have a myriad of options when it comes to next year’s draft. Options that will be determined by how Darnold plays this season and whether or not the front office truly believes in the fourth-year quarterback.
Regardless, the Panthers certainly have plenty of exciting players to keep a close eye on this season.
