The Carolina Panthers added to their interior protection options this week by scooping up Michael Jordan off waivers.

To add Michael Jordan off the waiver wire the day after their initial 53-man roster was confirmed, the Carolina Panthers parted ways with receiver David Moore. Not a surprising move when you consider the team’s depth and overall talent at the position.

They have a myriad of options at receiver, while their offensive line certainly is going to demand attention throughout the season and during the recruitment process next year if things turn out as expected.

Moore spent the last four seasons as a member of the Seattle Seahawks totaling 1,163 receiving yards so far in his career. While he has been productive as a depth piece, he was unneeded for Carolina and likely to receive an opportunity elsewhere.

The Panthers want snaps Moore would have received to go to their two rookie receivers – Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith – behind starters D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson.

Drafting Marshall Jr. and Smith sent a clear message. Carolina is going to give Sam Darnold everything he needs to succeed and Moore wasn’t a part of that plan.

Adding Jordan was a noteworthy move for a team that is going to need to continue to get better throughout the season. Here are three things to know about the Panthers’ newest offensive lineman.
