Curtis Samuel’s departure in free agency to the Washington Football Team was a blow. However, it was nothing the Carolina Panthers didn’t expect in the current financial climate and with a clear need to slap the franchise tag on stud right tackle Taylor Moton.

Although Samuel offered a significant amount all over the field and is clearly ascending, the Panthers have enough at the wide receiver position to ensure momentum continues on the right track.

This group is led by D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson, who formed one of the league’s most productive tandems in 2020 and both went over 1,000 receiving yards as a result of their efforts.

If this duo can get their touchdown totals up with Sam Darnold under center, then it’s going to help enormously en route to a possible winning record or surprise playoff appearance.

There is also a huge amount of intrigue surrounding Terrace Marshall Jr. The second-round pick has been one of the offseason’s stars and if he can translate this when things get more serious, the better Carolina’s chances will be.

If Shi Smith can also play a part, this is a deep group capable of putting up big-time numbers.
