Which Carolina Panthers players are entering the 2021 season with a chance of attaining genuine superstar status?

There is plenty of exciting talent on the Carolina Panthers heading into the 2021 season. This young, dynamic group should make some encouraging strides during the campaign, although the team probably boasts only one bonafide superstar at the present time.

Christian McCaffrey is that guy. The All-Pro running back is widely regarded as one of the league’s most productive players, something the Panthers sorely missed last time around after the former first-round pick featured in just three games due to various injury problems.

But what exactly constitutes a superstar?

In truth, it probably comes down to three things:

  • Consistent production to a high standard.
  • Ability to inspire others around them.
  • A natural ability to make big plays when it matters most.

With this in mind, here are six Panthers players who go into the 2021 season capable of reaching genuine superstar status.

Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT

Although there were some rough moments for Derrick Brown as a rookie, his production overall was pleasing. Especially considering opposing protection schemes gave the Auburn product plenty of respect right out of the gate, making him one of the league’s most double-teamed defensive tackles in 2020.

Brown still managed to make his presence felt in the face of this attention. The Panthers upgraded their front seven during free agency, so there could be much more to come from last year’s No. 7 overall selection.

If Brown develops his consistency against the run, there won’t be anything he cannot do on the field. He goes about his business in a quiet manner, but superstardom might not be far away for a player with the world at his feet.
