Robby Anderson’s revenge game

All the talk will be of Sam Darnold going up against his former team. But it’s also worth noting that this is also a revenge game for wide receiver Robby Anderson.

The former undrafted free agent spent the first four years of his professional career at MetLife Stadium, gaining 3,059 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns from 207 receptions.

However, judging by what we saw from Anderson with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, he was criminally underused on the Jets.

Anderson was unfairly labeled as nothing more than a deep threat. Something that changed right from the outset in Carolina.

The Temple product proved a valuable asset all over the field, with his quick twitch off the line of scrimmage creating separation early and often last season.

Few players will be looking forward to this game more than Anderson, who got some well-deserved financial security when Carolina gave him a two-year extension with one season remaining on his deal.

He won’t have forgotten his experiences in New York. Anderson is a straight shooter and is sure to put in that extra bit of effort to make his old employers pay.

It might be a new regime on the sidelines where the Jets are concerned. But that won’t matter to Anderson as he looks to hit the ground running en route to what will hopefully be another profitable campaign from the wideout.
