5 potential Carolina Panthers liabilities vs. NY Jets in Week 1
By Nick Halden
The Carolina Panthers offensive line
If there is one thing to like about the New York Jets this season it is an improved front seven that will give opposing offensive lines problems. While they are far from elite, they are a solid position group and certainly capable of reminding Sam Darnold of the pressure he faced during his three years at MetLife Stadium.
The Carolina Panthers have a suspect offensive line heading into the campaign. Not great or overwhelming, but they might be productive enough to run block and give a quarterback like Darnold enough time.
For the Panthers, facing the Jets in Week 1 is an early test of whether or not this line will hold up throughout the season.
Can they keep the Jets’ defensive line at bay with regularity?
If not, this is a red flag for a team set to face far superior defensive lines including division rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Whether this offensive line is an asset or a liability will quickly become apparent against the Jets. A team whose only hope of winning games this season is their defensive line wreaking havoc.
If Carolina can keep that from happening this game will get out of hand quickly.
