5 potential Carolina Panthers liabilities vs. NY Jets in Week 1
By Nick Halden
Jermaine Carter – Carolina Panthers LB
Jermaine Carter is a player the Carolina Panthers badly need to take a step forward this season.
He has been tasked with the impossible – attempting to replace Luke Kuechly. Following up an all-time great linebacker is tough for any player.
Carter has gone through growing pains and appears to be headed in the right direction. However, he is a player that has taken time to develop. Manning the interior of Carolina’s defense is no small task.
If he is savvy enough, young Zach Wilson will be testing Carter’s reads and positioning consistently.
Middle linebacker is one of the toughest positions to play, the pressure is going to be high on Carter in Week 1 as the Panthers continue to debate whether or not he is their future at the position.
How he performs right out of the gate will go a long way to telling just how confident the Panthers are in Carter going forward. In his three-year career, the Maryland product has played in 48 games and registered 90-total tackles. A solid start to a career set to take a decided turn this season.
