Carolina Panthers defensive end Brian Burns rocked Zach Wilson on the opening drive to formally welcome the rookie quarterback to the NFL.

Brian Burns wasted no time in making an impact on proceedings for the Carolina Panthers against the New York Jets. The defensive end started the game as a 3-4 outside linebacker and immediately set about stamping his authority on proceedings during the first drive of the game.

Burns has the world at his feet in 2021. His explosiveness coming off the edge is a sight to behold and this was there for all to see once again on the opening drive when he was inexcusably left unguarded on a second down.

The results were as expected.

One thing Burns does exceptionally well is getting to the spot quickly. He was on top of Jets quarterback Zach Wilson in the blink of an eye, coming up with his first sack of the season by rocking the BYU product.

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

This left Wilson with plenty to do on third down, which resulted in the Panthers standing their ground and getting off the field in double-quick time.

Superstardom awaits Burns this season on a defense that’s loaded with playmakers. If this is a sign of things to come, then the entire NFL should be on notice.

And everyone associated with the Panthers can be extremely thankful for that.
