87. Final. 14. 30. 19

Who were the big winners and losers from the Carolina Panthers’ first game of the season against the New York Jets?

For the first time since 2018, the Carolina Panthers are 1-0 after a season-opening home victory against the New York Jets.

Arguably, the Panthers should have won by a much larger victory than the 19-14 final score but a win is a win and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

The first half was much better for Carolina than the second. There were still plenty of, dare I say it, missed opportunities, but in the end, the Jets were the worst overall team.

It was also the first regular-season game in two years where the Panthers had full capacity at Bank of America Stadium, likely adding a huge boost to holding onto the lead that began to shrink in the game’s final quarter.

There wasn’t anything too surprising about Carolina’s performance that can be taken away as much of the game could have been expected. The defense looked great, the offense had its moments but still struggled and they beat a team they were supposed to overcome.

First games are never easy. There was some obvious rust on both sides of the ball at times, which will hopefully be worked out over the next few days before the Panthers get set for their second game of the season.

With that said, here is this week’s three winners and three losers from Week 1.
