Which Carolina Panthers players came away with weekly awards from their Week 1 victory over the New York Jets?

There was a lot to like about some areas as the Carolina Panthers got their season off to a flier against the New York Jets in Week 1. Perhaps the result was more important than the performance at this stage of the campaign, although certain aspects need to be brushed up quite significantly when sterner tests arrive in the coming weeks.

Still, being 1-0 is a good confidence boost no matter how poor the Jets were on the day. Carolina’s head coach Matt Rhule isn’t a fool, so he’ll know more than anyone things need to improve dramatically to keep this momentum going against the New Orleans Saints at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

Sean Payton’s men caused a huge turn up for the books with a dominant victory over the Green Bay Packers to kick-start their first season in the immediate aftermath of Drew Brees’ retirement. The Panthers should be under no illusions as to the task awaiting them this weekend.

Studying the tape and learning from mistakes is a trait the Panthers need to get used to. This is a young team still learning their craft, after all.

What comes next will be more important, obviously. But the Panthers have at least given themselves some sort of platform to build with 16 games remaining.

Before attention turns to the Saints, here are our Panthers’ weekly award winners for Week 1.
