Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers RB

Without scoring a touchdown, Christian McCaffrey took the top spot among running backs in fantasy in the NFL’s opening week. The fifth-year star carried the ball 21 times for 98 yards and had nine catches for 89 yards for a total of 27.7 fantasy points.

Any concerns about McCaffrey’s health should have dissipated after Sunday’s performance, but the expectation is the Carolina Panthers coaching staff still want to lighten the load for the former All-Pro.

The next few games will be key to determine whether rookie Chuba Hubbard or veteran Royce Freeman step up and firmly hold on to the RB2 spot. Something that could still go either way at this stage and we won’t know for sure until the recent waiver wire acquisition gets up to speed.

Start or Sit for Week 2?

START.

Don’t be scared off by the Green Bay Packers’ 43 total rushing yards against the Saints in Week 1, McCaffrey should never leave your starting lineup.

The Panthers stud has always been productive regardless of the opponent, and Sam Darnold -who threw to McCaffrey nine times – has already shown a willingness to rely on him in the passing game.
