Carolina Panthers pick No. 58: Jaquan Brisker – S (Penn State)

The Carolina Panthers could select a long-term partner at safety for Jeremy Chinn during the 2022 NFL Draft. Juston Burris is currently occupying this position in the final year of his deal, but it remains to be seen whether the veteran will do enough throughout the campaign to warrant a new contract.

One potential avenue the Panthers could go down if they get themselves a second-round pick is taking their second-straight player from Penn State in Jaquan Brisker.

The athletic defensive back seems to fit the mold of recruit Carolina’s gone after during the first two years under Matt Rhule. Brisker is lighting fast, dynamic, and has a high football IQ that allows him to be around the football consistently.

Brisker has made a significant impression for the Nittany Lions so far in 2021, gaining a grade of more than 81.0 from Pro Football Focus and proving beyond all doubt his skills will make a successful transition to the next level.

Coupling Brisker with a stud such as Chinn would give the Panthers a fantastic duo they could count on for perhaps the next decade. Something they haven’t had the benefit of for quite some time despite their obvious strengths elsewhere on defense.
