Carolina Panthers 2022 NFL mock draft with major first-round trade
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers pick No. 105: Isaac Taylor-Stuart – CB (USC)
The Carolina Panthers looked like a force to be reckoned with at cornerback in Week 1. Both Donte Jackson and No. 8 overall selection Jaycee Horn were highly productive against the New York Jets, although there will be far sterner tests to come throughout the campaign.
Jackson is on the lookout for a big-money deal next spring. In order to achieve this, the LSU product needs to keep performing at a high level and – more importantly – stay free of injuries for good measure.
Even if the Panthers do extend Jackson, they could be on the lookout for another body with long-term prospects with A.J. Bouye out of contract.
Isaac Taylor-Stuart is a phenomenal athlete with the size and quickness to match, so the USC star will be one to keep a close eye on during the remainder of the season and throughout what promises to be an intriguing assessment process.
Taylor-Stuart thrives in man coverage. He is also unafraid to mix it up in run support to further enhance his overall influence on any given down.
It seems the corner is just scratching the surface of what he is truly capable of. Taylor-Stuart needs to brush up his technique, but his athleticism is off the charts and well worth a gamble here.
