What were the best and worst moments for the Carolina Panthers in their Week 1 victory over the New York Jets?

The Carolina Panthers’ regular season officially began last Sunday when they hosted Sam Darnold’s former team, the New York Jets. It was a tale of two halves for Matt Rhule’s men, but they defended home-field by walking away with a 19-14 win.

It may just be a small victory, but this was the team’s first win in a season opener since 2018.

Now, the Panthers will continue their home-stand to begin the 2021 season as the team hosts the New Orleans Saints at Bank of America Stadium. Carolina will have their hands full in their Week 2 matchup.

The Saints will be riding high into the game after coming off a dominant 38-3 win over the Green Bay Packers in their season opener.

Heading into Week 1, there were plenty of storylines heading into the game: Darnold’s revenge, Christian McCaffrey’s return, and fans returning to the stands. There was also a fair share of questions about the offensive line and how the defense will improve with another year of experience.

Looking at some of these, last week’s game provided some relief while also leaving fans questioning some aspects of the team’s victory.

With that said, let’s look back to the Panthers’ Week 1 victory and examine the best and the worst from the game.
