Jaycee Horn – Carolina Panthers CB

Justin Fields might turn out to be a good quarterback. But there is no doubt that Jaycee Horn has all the makings of the shutdown cornerback that the Carolina Panthers have been craving ever since Josh Norman departed following the 2015 season.

This was another outstanding outing for the No. 8 overall selection, who was solid in coverage and even managed to secure his first NFL interception late on to put the exclamation point on proceedings.

Horn has made a substantial difference to Carolina’s defense.

His tandem with Donte Jackson already looks dominant and with Pro Bowler A.J. Bouye set to return from suspension at the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football, the sky is the limit.

The best thing about all this is just how much better Horn’s going to get.

He’s already got commentators stating opposing offenses are purposely avoiding throws in his direction, which tells us plenty about the esteem in which the South Carolina product is held.

There will be times of trouble for Horn – which is par for the course where first-year corners are concerned. However, judging by what we’ve seen from him so far, these could be few and far between.
