Juston Burris – Carolina Panthers S

There were some who suspected Juston Burris might become a weak link for the Carolina Panthers after his rough end to 2020. That couldn’t be further from the truth given his production over the first fortnight.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league and Burris’ encouraging production before injuring his ribs at the Minnesota Vikings last season seems to have been forgotten. Thankfully, the North Carolina State product has returned to this sort of form and he was superb in Week 2 alongside Jeremy Chinn on the backend.

Burris read what Jameis Winston was doing well throughout. When the quarterback was under pressure, he turned back into the error-prone figure we saw plenty of during his time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He finished the game with one interception, one pass defense, and led the Panthers with five tackles. Not too shabby from a player that was on the chopping block before Carolina opted to part ways with Tre Boston instead.

This production is something Burris needs to keep up throughout the season, which is the last of his deal. There was a slight injury concern in the second half to monitor on a short week, but aside from that, it’s all positive regarding the safety after two weeks.
