Panthers Game Thursday: Panthers at Texans odds and prediction for NFL Week 3 game
By Dean Jones
Can the Carolina Panthers get themselves another victory at the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football and secure a 3-0 record?
The Carolina Panthers have a quick turnaround before taking the field once again on Thursday Night Football at the Houston Texans. Matt Rhule’s men go into the contest with plenty of confidence having trounced the New Orleans Saints at Bank of America Stadium in Week 2, taking the team to a 2-0 record for the first time since 2017.
This represents another good opportunity for the Panthers to remain undefeated. Houston is coming off a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns and they might be forced to throw rookie signal-caller Davis Mills into a starting job much sooner than expected following an injury to Tyrod Taylor.
There is a chance the Texans activate Deshaun Watson, but considering everything that’s transpired between the player and the organization this offseason, it appears unlikely.
Carolina is now starting to generate some real momentum thanks to an exceptional defense and a quarterback in Sam Darnold that’s far exceeded expectations over the first two games.
Keeping this up will be the biggest challenge for this young group. But all it takes is a few solid outings to really get the ball rolling in a rebuild such as this.
Panthers at Texans Odds Week 3
The Week 3 betting odds on WynnBET have the Panthers as 7.5-point favorites on the road. The total for the game is set at an over/under of 43.5 points.
Carolina’s current over/under for points scored stands at 25.5.
Panthers at Texans Prediction Week 3
It’s hard to envisage a situation where Carolina doesn’t emerge victorious from this one. Much will depend on how much Sunday’s win has taken out of them on a short week, but they have the talent to cause the Texans an untold amount of problems.
Darnold’s growing confidence in the offense coupled with a dynamic defense seems to be a recipe for success. Carolina cannot take Houston for granted, however, even though David Culley’s men are a team going through a significant period of transition.
The Panthers can take advantage of this and make their presence felt in front of a national audience. No game is ever a breeze in the NFL, but expect Carolina to come through this one comfortably by a score of 28-7.
