Dennis Daley – Carolina Panthers OG

When Pat Elflein went out of the game through injury, Dennis Daley got the opportunity to showcase what he could do at his preferred position. The Carolina Panthers deployed the offensive lineman at right guard in the absence of John Miller in Week 1, where he wasn’t really comfortable and struggled accordingly.

Daley was given a pass for that, to a certain extent. But his production against the New Orleans Saints was disappointing and something he needs to rectify moving forward.

Matt Rhule has already given Daley the green light to start in place of the crocked Elflein in Week 3 at the Houston Texans. This is arguably his final audition to prove he could have a sustainable future in Carolina.

The former sixth-round pick has much work to do, there’s no getting away from that.

Daley’s clearly running out of chances to make his presence felt, with his 47.9 grade from Pro Football Focus through two games another damning indictment of his overall performance.

Daley needs to turn things around, and quickly. The South Carolina product has more on the line than most in front of the national audience and another poor outing will potentially coincide with his demotion down the depth chart in favor of third-round pick Brady Christensen.
