Joey Slye – Former Carolina Panthers K

Okay, before you laugh, hear me out.

This is a revenge game for Houston Texans kicker Joey Slye. The Carolina Panthers cut him not even a month ago and he will certainly have the motivation to attempt and make every field goal or extra point chance he gets.

It’s not often that your first thought is a kicker beating you, but if Carolina doesn’t do enough to keep Houston out of field goal range, Slye might have the juice to nail some heartbreaking kicks if everything lines up in his favor.

With as little offense as the Texans have, Slye will be needed to attempt field goals when they can’t convert in the red zone. Don’t be surprised if he all of a sudden looks like one of the best in the league.

That’s just Carolina’s luck.

The Panthers have to make sure he doesn’t get many opportunities. The last thing you would want to see is your former kicker nailing everything through the upright while you’re still trying to figure out the kicking situation after replacing Ryan Santoso with Zane Gonzalez.
