Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT

Derrick Brown was a little quiet last week, but his play will be needed on Thursday Night Football. The Houston Texans have multiple running backs at their disposal, with one in particular really caught the eye over the first two weeks.

Brown will have to contain running back Mark Ingram. A bruising force that still has fuel in the tank.

Despite the fact Brown will be facing a decent interior offensive line in the Texans, he can still take advantage. Especially with DaQuan Jones beside him on the interior as the Carolina Panthers strive for a third-straight victory to begin the 2021 campaign.

Brown is a big-bodied man that can rush the passer as well. Something we saw plenty of during the Auburn product’s rookie season in 2020.

He is a vital piece of this defense and must be contributing at all costs.

The former No. 7 overall selection will be a big piece to the Panthers’ success on defense this season and way beyond. Brown is more than capable of a huge game under the bright lights on Thursday night.

Treating the Texans with less respected given wholesale offseason changes would be a mistake. If Brown and others can set the tone early, the better their chances will be.
